Do not place your laptop on uneven or unstable work surfaces.
Seek servicing if the case of your laptop has been damaged. Do not expose your laptop to or use it near liquids, rain, or moisture. Do not use the modem during an electrical storm.

Do not perform your own laptop repairs (unless you know how).
While it may be tempting to open your laptop and check out what's inside, it is not a good idea. Most laptops are under warranty for at least a year; some are covered for three years or more. However, if the computer shows signs of tampering, there is a chance the warranty will be voided, making any repair costs your responsibility.
